The witch will there wherever you go in Blatten-Belalp. You will fall under her spell at the “Hexenkessel” (witch’s cauldron) leisure park just as much as you will in the holiday village. Here and there, experience the big eyes of the “Häxu” witch and spookily fun moments. Children are sure to love her. But that’s not all. The Blatten-Belalp Reka Holiday Village is pretty much energetically self-sufficient. Because of this, it has been honoured as a beacon project by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy. Weekly guided tours of the facility are available for those with an interest in technology.

Saffron in Mund – a journey for all the senses
A stone's throw from Blatten lies Mund, Switzerland's saffron village. Belalp-Riederalp suspension bridge
Opened in 2015, the suspension bridge connects the two villages of Belalp and Riederalp. It is part of the Aletsch Panorama Trail, which runs along the Aletsch Glacier and, with a length of 124 metres, is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in Europe. It was built at a height of about 80 metres above the Massa Gorge and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape, the Aletsch Glacier and the Valais Alps.

Es war alles in Ordnung. Einzig hat uns der Dorfladen gestört. An den Regalen sind zum teil keine Preise angeschrieben und man bekommt keinen Kassenzettel. Ein Dorfladen darf teurer sein, aber die übertreiben es eindeutig! Mir ist bewusst, dass dieser Laden nicht zum Rekadorf gehört, aber vielleicht sollte das Dorf etwas dagegen unternehmen.

Wohnung: Hatten Nr. 622 mit Dusche und sep. WC - da bräuchte es zwei Handtücher - beide mal ein Handtuchhacken - im sep. WC ev. ein kleines Gestell für die Reserve-WC-Rollen und ein Abfalleimer. In der Küche haben wir einen leeren Schrank vermisst für unsere Nahrungsmittel - haben dann etwas umgeräumt, dann hatten wir Platz - ev. könnte man eine Schublade mit innenliegender Schublade leer lassen für das Material der Gäste. In anderen Jahren waren wir in der obersten grössten Wohnung. Dort hat es ein langes Zimmer mit zwei Betten - zu hinterst hat es keinen Stromanschluss - dort bräuchte es ev. mehr Hacken für Kleider und ein Schrank wäre in diesem Zimmer auch super und wünschenswert - ev. auch nur ein Regal (in der Art von Kallax IKEA) Dies sind kleine Tipps, welche die Wohnung aus unserer Sicht etwas aufwerten würden. The Valais Alps are home to the highest mountains in Switzerland. The world-famous Matterhorn is just one of them. You can ski in Zermatt 365 days of the year, and in many places children can use the slopes for free. The wild and romantic Goms is a paradise for hikers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers. Highlights include the three largest glaciers in Switzerland: the Aletsch, Gorner and Fiescher glaciers. Families are always welcome in hospitable Valais.
