The facility
The island “Île de Ré” - a neighboring island of the artificial island “Fort Boyard”, made famous by a TV series - is located on the French west coast off the historic port city of La Rochelle. The vacation resort of Rivedoux-Plage with its family-friendly residence can be reached via a 3 km long bridge over the sea (a fee of approx. EUR 16.00 is charged for access to the peninsula). The 30 km long and up to 5 km wide peninsula offers long, wide, fine sandy beaches, extensive marshland and pine and cypress forests. As always on the Atlantic, low and high tides are among the impressive natural spectacles. In this paradise for family vacations, many sports activities and excursion destinations await you for unforgettable experiences.
The car-free residence is located in the south-east of the island “Île de Ré” near the sea and has comfortably furnished apartments with small terraces or balconies. The apartments are located in several two-storey buildings. The residence has a 24-hour reception, parking lot (free of charge), breakfast room, seminar room, storage room for bicycles, laundry (for a fee), free Wi-Fi. There are various restaurants, bars and shopping facilities within a radius of 1 km.
Location: 5 km from the port of La Rochelle and 200 km from Bordeaux.

Swimming: Swimming pool (open from early May to mid-September, heated) with sun loungers and parasols, 700 m to the public beach (the path leads through little-used neighborhood streets)

Leisure/sports: Free of charge: table tennis (bats and balls for hire), fitness room. For a fee: table football, bike rental (the bike paths start directly in front of the residence), small wellness area with sauna, steam bath, massage and beauty treatments. On the beach for a fee: various water sports such as jet skiing, kayaking, windsurfing, surfing and kitesurfing.

Tip #1: Tour of the island by bike
With over 100 km of well-maintained cycle paths, Île de Ré is a paradise for cyclists. The paths lead through pine and pine forests, past salt fields and beautiful beaches and through charming villages.
Tip #2: Salt marshes

Gerade für Mütter, die ohnehin für das Wohl ihrer Familie zuständig sind, ist das kein guter Ort, weil sie dementsprechend gefordert werden, das zu tun, was sie auch zu Hause tun: Einkaufen, kochen und putzen. So sehen keine Ferien für Familien aus.

About the location
Rivedoux-Plage is on the south coast of Île de Ré, in the Charente-Maritime ‘Département’ and directly on the Atlantic. After an impressive drive from La Rochelle, the stunning Pont de l’île de Ré bridge links the mainland to the bathing resort. Incredibly wide beaches stretch for several kilometres from Rivedoux-Plage. At low tide, you can walk out to the Chaveau lighthouse. The surrounding area is ideal for hikes, bike tours and water sports. Boat rides are also popular as well as sailing and wind surfing, wake- and kite surfing and stand-up paddling.

Directions
By car
From the Geneva border crossing, the journey via Mâcon or Lyon and La Rochelle takes approx. 8-9 hours, depending on traffic. Several alternatives are possible. The island of Île de Ré is connected to the mainland by a 3 km long bridge. The bridge is open all year round and a fee of around EUR 16.00 is charged for crossing.
By plane
The nearest airport, La Rochelle, is approx. 20 km away. During the high season, bus number 151 runs hourly to the peninsula.
