Peace, nature, and history in Ortano
Ortano is a true hidden gem on Elba. This sheltered bay, with its fine sandy beach and turquoise waters, invites you to dream and relax. On calm days, you can even swim to the small island of Ortano. Surrounded by hills and Mediterranean flora, this place offers a perfect blend of nature, relaxation, and local culture.
Once a centre of iron ore mining, the area still bears traces of this fascinating past, with old tracks and buildings. The bay is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park – ideal for beach holidays, hiking, or cycling tours.
Charming destinations such as Rio Marina with its Mineral Museum, the picturesque village of Capoliveri, or the lively Porto Azzurro with its waterfront promenade are easily reachable. Even Portoferraio, the island’s capital, is only 18 kilometres away.
