In the heart of the Beverin Nature Park. The massif of the Piz Beverin in the west shelters the wide slope of the Schamserberg with the small villages of Wergenstein, Mathon, Lohn. They all lie about 500 metres above the valley floor, where the spa town of Andeer (Thusis 12 km) and the small village of Pignia are located. Here on the Hinterrhein, above the Viamala gorge, the simple and natural dominate. There are over 10 km of prepared toboggan runs, 2.5 km of which are floodlit. For alpine skiing you have to go to Splügen. The Church of St. Martin in Zillis with its world-famous Romanesque ceiling paintings is close by.
