In southern Valais, right at the far edge of the Val d’Anniviers valley, lies the holiday resort of Zinal, 1,670 metres above sea level. The valley ends with a stunning mountain backdrop – the famous Imperial Crown of no fewer than six peaks all over 4,000 metres high, including the Weisshorn, the fourth-highest mountain in Europe. In front of this panorama you can hike in summer on a network of trails which run for about 300 km over lush meadows past ancient larch wood huts. Or you can look forward to 150 km of marked cycle paths. Or 70 km of ski slopes or 19 km of cross-country ski trails for fun days in the snow.

Nous avons passé de magnifiques vacances à Zinal. Le village reka est calme et accueillant. La piscine, le club rekalino et la place de jeux sont parfaites, les enfants ont adoré. L'appartement était joliment et sobrement décoré. Nous étions tous tristes de repartir et parlons déjà d'y retourner !

Das Rekadorf ist schön und gut aufgebaut, die Wohnungen sind schön. Schade, dass die Wanderungen oft nur "in die Höhe führen".

Wir waren sehr zufrieden und es hat uns gut gefallen. Etwas schade war, dass das Spielzimmer oftsmals abgeschlossen war, auch wenn kein Rekslini programm war. Da wöre es so st toll eine info an der tür zu finden oder Öffnungszeiten, unsere Jungs waren so sehr oft enttäuscht wieder zurückgekommen. Dachwohnungen nicht für sehr grosse Leute geeignet, Dusche sehr tief, für uns jein Problem da alle klein waren. Bungsungsmaschine unbedingt auf den neusten Stsnd bringen oder wechseln, ist so unpraktisch geworden. Keine wirklichen Filtereinstellungen oder offene suche möglich etc.

About the location
The holiday resort of Zinal, in French-speaking Valais, lies at the end of the Val d'Anniviers, a southern side valley of the Rhone valley. As a Maiensässdorf, the settlement used to be inhabited only temporarily, mainly in May and June before the cattle were taken to the alpine pastures, in October at the time of the departure from the Alps, and in December and January when the hay brought in was fed to the cattle.
The first inn was built in 1856. In the 1960s the Sorebois cable car was put into operation. Since then the village has developed into a modern destination. The Alpine valley is of a rare natural beauty. Many old traditions are still alive. Zinal is the starting point for hiking and high mountain tours and is known as an El Dorado for mountain bikers and winter sports enthusiasts.
About the region
The Valais Alps are home to the highest mountains in Switzerland. The world-famous Matterhorn is just one of them. You can ski in Zermatt 365 days of the year, and in many places children can use the slopes for free. The wild and romantic Goms is a paradise for hikers, snowshoers and cross-country skiers. Highlights include the three largest glaciers in Switzerland: the Aletsch, Gorner and Fiescher glaciers. Families are always welcome in hospitable Valais.
Directions
Arrival by train
Via BLS Visp-Sierre post bus or via Lausanne-Sion-Sierre Zinal post bus. Shortcut through the Lötschberg base tunnel. The post bus will take you all the way to the RekaA holiday village. Bus stop: “Village de vacances”
Arrival by car
Via the N6 motorway Spiez. Car transport in Kandersteg-Goppenstein-Gampel-Sierre or via N12 Chexbres N9 Sion-Sierre. From Sierre/Siders towards Val d'Anniviers/Zinal (28 km, look out for turnoff). The REKA holiday village is located at the back of the village, above the Alpina restaurant.
