A holiday home in the Urnäsch Reka Holiday Village

Meet Animals and Farmers

In Urnäsch there are some ‘beastly‘ good holiday homes! It’s all about animals, nature and life on the farm at the Urnäsch Reka Holiday Village. The small animals‘ stable and petting zoo are an invitation to get to know miniature goats, ponies, chickens and rabbits.

Various excursions in the region enable you to refresh your acquaintance with the world of plants and animals, just a stone’s throw from your holiday home: e.g. visit a neighbouring farmhouse or chat to the woodsman in the forest covered in freshly fallen snow.

The splendid village of Urnäsch is located on the river of the same name in the rolling Appenzell hills. A lively village with a thriving economy, Urnäsch has preserved its country character and managed to develop soft-impact tourism. The conveniently situated holiday homes are within easy reach of lots of excursion destinations by public transport.

Animals and nature play a major meaningful role in the Rekalino Club. There are excursions to farms in the programme where the whole family gets a closer look at all the farmer's different activities (e.g. milking the cows, etc.). Focus is also on a farm with a wide variety of rare historic breeds of animals and types of plants (ProSpecieRara). Twice a week children can ride horses and poneys. During excursions up to alpine meadows families also learn all about farming and the environment from a whole new angle. Excursions for children under 5 years old are only possible with one of the parents.

Free services are also included in the holiday home rent such as an indoor pool with kid’s splashing pools, the Rekalino Club with child care, baby equipment hire service. A community area is available as well as extensive recreation facilities for children and teenagers people alike.
